Case Study

What was the challenge?

To develop Tactical data Link (TDL) User and System Requirements (URD/SRD) in support of a customer’s Naval Multilink programme

What was the solution?

A team of Atheniem specialists used their operational and engineering knowledge and experience, their STANAG / MIL-STD expertise and platform knowledge to capture both the system and user requirements for the customer’s Naval Multilink programme. The scope of work covered the full product life-cycle and initially encompassed analysis of stakeholder needs and expectations. These were used by the Atheniem team to provide Concept development (CONOPS), Information Exchange Requirements (IERs) development, User and System Requirements (URD/SRD) development and assessment, System Design Review, Systems Integration, Interoperability, Integrated Test, Evaluation and Acceptance support. The scope also included planning support throughout platform life including Mid-Life developments and Capability upgrades. As part of their ongoing acquisition support Atheniem team members have delivered the following: Concept of Operations (CONOPS), Technical Description Document (TDD), IER workshop, IER Capture and Report, TDL System Functional Requirements (SFRs) / Platform Requirement Specifications (PRS)  against TDL Standards (Link 16, Link 22, JREAP and Data Forwarding) and Use Cases to trace all requirements and Use Cases to the intent of the PRS.

What was the outcome?

The system and user requirements are currently being used to inform both ongoing test planning and verification and validation through their inclusion in the Verification Cross Reference Matrix (VCRM).
